Mediation Overview

Mediation is a process and not an event; mediation should not be viewed only as involving what happens on the day of any mediation session. Face-to-face meetings are events within the larger process of interaction and communication between the participants involving the Mediator. The mediation process begins at the time any party contacts the mediator’s office and ends only with a signed agreement or a formal declaration of impasse. All contacts with a mediator are within the mediation process no matter when they happen.
